The Block is the first generative art created by Brian Morrison using VQGAN and CLIP.
The Block depicts a city landscape with abstract influences. You'll notice there are moments where the art feels unfocused or disorganized. Despite being a flat 2D image, The Block takes on a 3D quality. The imagery is disorganized and appears to have been created with little concern for perspective or scale.
The Block was influenced by the work of American artist Jean-Michel Basquiat. You'll notice this abstract aesthetic immediately, as well as the influence of street culture in The Block.
The title of the work references the concept of an urban residential city block.
